Supervise studios with processes in Ceramics, Foundations, Painting, Printmaking.Studios Nagel Art Studios (NAS) and Shwayder Art Building (SAB): Coordinate annual safety inspection for each studio.Update safety information and safety signs displayed in all studio spaces.Maintain/create clear, accurate, user-friendly documentation and instructions for all equipment/processes.Work with faculty to develop safety demonstrations for students use of equipment.Manage all Hazardous Materials and discarded or coordinate waste pickup in conjunction with DUs hazardous waste protocol and DU Risk Management (clay, glaze chemistry, printmaking etchants, etc.) Stock first aid and safety supplies as needed.Maintain Environmental Health & Safety information, Safety Data Sheets, and the Hazardous Materials Identification System for materials and substances.Awareness and familiarity of OSHA standards and currency with university safety protocols.Provide and maintain a safe working environment for students, faculty and staff.Supervise and enforce policies for use of studio facilities by students, faculty, and staff.This is a 37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year, benefited position, to be equitably shared in the four designated areas. Reports to full-time faculty and the SAAH Director. Available to assist faculty and students in Studio Art areas in SAAH and willingness to learn new skills and gain knowledge related to both existing and new equipment. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and participate in ordering and purchasing. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment as well as the training and oversight of Work Study students in the art mediums listed. The Studio Art Technician shall support faculty teaching and assist student learning in the following areas: 1) health and safety 2) equipment use 3) material processes. SAAH acknowledges the variety of needs being addressed and are prepared to collaborate with candidates in helping them succeed. The Studio Art Technician position provides health, safety, and technical support to the School of Art & Art History (SAAH) across the areas of Ceramics, Foundations, Painting, and Printmaking.
